BBC launches animal magazine for kids

BBC Magazines is launching a monthly children’s magazine based on popular animal-based shows and websites, such as Springwatch, ROAR and Animal Park. The magazine, All About Animals, launches on August 22 and is aimed at girls aged seven to 12.

BBC Magazines is launching a monthly children’s magazine based on popular animal-based shows and websites, such as Springwatch, ROAR and Animal Park. The magazine, All About Animals, launches on August 22 and is aimed at girls aged seven to 12.

Each issue will include a free gift and is priced £1.99. Content will include celebrity features and items on exotic animals, as well as native British wildlife. Children will also be given tips on caring for their own pets.

BBC Children’s Magazines joint managing director Toni Round says that research shows girls want to read about animals “above all other things”.

BBC Magazines is part of BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the corporation. In 2005-2006 BBC Worldwide generated profits of £89m on sales of £784m.
