She has most recently worked as a consultant for Turner Broadcasting and ESPN in Europe.

Douglas will report to Sharon Baylay, director of BBC Marketing, Communications and Audiences (MC&A) and will take up her post this month. She replaces Helen Kellie who moved to BBC Worldwide earlier this year.

In her new role Douglas will be involved in shaping the strategic brand direction for all BBC television channels and genres, excluding BBC News.

As a member of the MC&A Board she will play a role in the strategic leadership and development of the division.

Douglas will also sit on the board of BBC Vision and work closely with Jana Bennett, director of Vision, and her management team.

In other previous positions, Douglas was senior VP and managing director at Walt Disney Television, Asia Pacific.

She was also managing director at Nickelodeon UK from 2000 to 2004. Prior to that she was VP of marketing for Turner Entertainment Networks  between 1994 to 2000 where she supported the launch of Cartoon Network and TNT/TCM across Europe.

In July, Baylay (pictured) outlined her vision for the corporation and the challenges it faced for the first time since her appointment.

In a response to Marketing Week columnist Stuart Smith she said that it was committed to providing greater transparency.
