Birds Eye marketer moves to General Mills

Birds Eye UK marketing director Ben Pearman is leaving the frozen food company to join Häagen Dazs General Mills.

Pearman joins General Mills as marketing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa and will relocate to Switzerland.

Prior to joining Birds Eye, Pearman was a director at Heinz and has previously held marketing roles Nestlé, and Wall’s Magnum Ice-Cream.

General Mills, which also owns the Pillsbury, Yoplait and Old El Paso brands, claims to be the world’s sixth biggest food manufacturer.

Birds Eye has not yet appointed a replacement marketing director, but hopes to announce Pearman’s successor in the next few weeks.

Parent company Birds Eye Iglo, which is headed up by CEO Martin Glenn, bought frozen food firm Findus Italy from Unilever in July.

The €805m (£684m) acquisition is part of Birds Eye’s strategy to expands its business and double its European sales in the next three years.
