Blockbuster to unveil its new TV advertising campaign

Video rental chain Blockbuster unveils its latest TV advertising campaign on Monday (March 25), to support the extension of the ‘Blockbuster promise’. The promise – a compensatory free rental if a title featured in a promotion is not available – is now being extended to cover the company’s entire Top 30 rental chart.

The ads, created by Doner Cardwell Hawkins, follow on from previous campaign ‘The Gift’ and introduce a humorous slant for the first time. The campaign comprises four different executions. The first ad depicts two men distracting two visiting women from the untidy state of their flat by pulling out a Blockbuster DVD. Further treatments include a girl who tricks her boyfriend into choosing the movie that she wants to watch.

Blockbuster recently awarded its £9m media account to Walker Media (MW March 7).
