Boots unveils Christmas ad

Boots has unveiled its Christmas TV advert to showcase to customers the benefits of purchasing gifts for those who have done something special.

The advert, soundtracked to Bronksi Beat’s Smalltown Boy, focuses on a teenager as he takes to the street on a Christmas night to hand out presents to people who have done something special for him. Recipients of festive fun include a teacher who helped him achieve a “B in Maths”, the “fittest girl in year 10” and the nurse who cared for his “nan”.

It uses the brand’s “It Feels Good” strapline and highlights the retailer has offers on “1000s of Christmas gifts”.

The advert, created by Mother, launches nationwide tomorrow (8 November), however, Boots has been previewing it to loyalty card members today.

Annabel Franks, head of Christmas and exclusives at Boots UK, says: “There are people all around us who pepper our lives with smiles, pick me ups and moments of kindness. Sometimes they go out of their way to help us, other times it’s just them being them.”

Boots will be hoping the campaign sparks less controversy than 2012’s festive drive when it was accused of animal cruelty for showing a child pointing a hair dryer at a dog.

That escalated quickly.
