Borders UK hires new marketing chief

High street book chain Borders UK has appointed Simon Moore to take over from Steph Little as its head of marketing, after Little’s decision to take a travelling career break.

Moore has held various retail marketing positions at high street outlet Game, 3 Retail and the Westfield shopping centre.

He will take up his role at the end of the month and will be responsible for strategic development of brand communications, working with third parties to develop joint marketing opportunities and driving footfall and spend through in store promotions and point of sale.

Retail marketing manager Heidi Murphy will now report to Moore.

Borders UK has been independent of the US chain of the same name since it was bought out by Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson’s private equity group Risk Capital Partners in 2007.

The chain recently signed a sponsorship deal with TV channels Sky Arts 1 and Arts 1 HD channels.
