Bourjois UK appoints top marketer

Cosmetics company Bourjois has named ex-L’Oréal marketer Jennie Tannett as its head of marketing in the UK.

Cosmetics company Bourjois has named ex-L’Oréal marketer Jennie Tannett as its head of marketing in the UK.

Tannett’s appointment ends a year-long search for a replacement for Nigel Brown. Tannett, who will hold the position of marketing manager, will report directly to Bourjois general manager Susan Taylor.

Tannett was group product manager for haircare at L’Oréal Paris. Previously, she was responsible for marketing the company’s cosmetics range. She says: “Bourjois is a growing brand. My role will be to look at how to use innovation and increased distribution to push the brand.”

Bourjois competes for a core female 16- to 35-year-old market against rivals such as L’Oréal’s Maybelline and Lancôme.

Tannett will take charge of the brand’s marketing activity in a highly competitive cosmetics market. Last month, L’Oréal announced it would tie up with MSN to launch a dedicated online marketing channel to support brands such as Maybelline.

In 2001, Bourjois handed its £10m European media buying and planning account to Mediaedge:CIA, ending its relationship with Media Planning Group.
