BP’s refinery and marketing chief to leave after 24 years

One of BP’s most senior executives John Manzoni is leaving the oil giant after 24 years. Manzoni, who is chief executive of refining and marketing, will be replaced by executive director Iain Conn when he leaves at the end of August.

Manzoni was tipped as a potential successor to the group’s former chief executive John Browne but he was beaten to the top job by Tony Hayward.

During his 24 years with BP, Manzoni, a board member, has also served as head of investor relations and head of strategy. He is leaving to take another job within the energy industry.

Conn is an executive director with responsibilities that include marketing, safety and operations, and human resources. His current role will be split between other BP executives, the group says.
