B&Q launches biggest ever price campaign

B&Q is launching the Autumn Privilege Card this weekend as part of a £25m investment in pricing campaigns.

The promotion is the DIY retailer’s biggest ever price promotion and follows on from the launch of B&Q’s first Privilege Card scheme in May.

Customers that spend over £50 in store between 25 – 28 September will receive the loyalty card which will give them 10% off every purchase throughout October.

B&Q expects the scheme to save customers £20m throughout autumn.

The card is also valid on top of other in store promotions such as half price kitchens and bathrooms as well as online purchases.

Cardholders will be eligible for further exclusive offers.

B&Q saw sales of paint and wallpaper rise 10% and 15% respectively between February and August as the challenging housing market has meant more people favouring DIY over moving house.

Euan Sutherland B&Q and Kingfisher chief executive officer says: “This is B&Q’s biggest ever autumn price investment. At this time of year customers are getting their homes and gardens ready for winter and we want to make this as affordable as possible.  We’re seeing more and more people across the UK improving instead of moving – DIY is cool again.”

By registering online, customers will also have the opportunity to win one of ten £500 B&Q gift cards.

The campaign is also open to tradesmen who will receive an additional 10% rebate across purchases this weekend.

Last week the chain reported a 35% rise in half-year profits.

In July the DIY chain appointed McCann Erickson to handle its £40m advertising account following a pitch.
