She takes up the role left vacant by Jill Finney earlier this year and has responsibility for developing campaigns that build the brand, reputation and image of the organisation with its key audiences.

Brindle will tackle projects including supporting the Library’s increasing digitisation activity and implementing fundraising campaigns. She will also oversee the communications, exhibitions and marketing activities of the Library.

She was most recently global marketing director for the Financial Times where she helped develop the advertising campaign “We live in Financial Tines.” She is also a former marketing director for Allied Bakeries and Barclays Offshore Banking.

Brindle will report to chief executive Dame Lynne Brindley.

The latter recently commented on this month’s Digital Britain report by urging the Government to realise the importance of digitalising the “goldmine” of content held by digital institutions.
