BSkyB reshuffle follows Florsheim’s departure

BSkyB has reshuffled its senior management following the unexpected resignation of chief marketing officer Jon Florsheim.

His responsibilities will now be split between Brian Sullivan, director of product strategy and management, who will now become managing director customer group and Matthew Anderson, group director of communications, will now add responsibility for brand marketing to his role. The broadcaster has also promoted group commercial and strategy director Mike Darcey to chief operating officer.

Sullivan will be responsible for leading the company’s marketing, product development and customer service teams. He was instrumental in developing Sky’s multi-product strategy and launch of Sky , Sky HD and Sky Broadband.

Anderson will take over responsibility for advertising and Charles Ponsonby, brand marketing director, will report into him.

It is not clear how the management changes will affect the ongoing review of Sky’s £75m advertising. The broadcaster is currently in talks with WPP Group about developing “Team Sky” to handle the account but it is also talking to WCRS. WPP-owned United previously handled the business.

Industry insiders suggest that today’s changes mean WPP is now well positioned to retain the business. It was thought that Florsheim was keen to move the business to WCRS

Florsheim is leaving the broadcaster to become chief executive of Homeserve GB, the emergency home maintenance service. He takes over the role in January.
