Jon Florsheim, BSkyB chief marketing officer (pictured), is leaving the pay-TV giant to become chief executive of Homeserve, the home maintenance service.

Florsheim’s shock departure comes in the middle of a pitch for the £75m BSkyB advertising business between Grey and WCRS. It is unclear whether his departure will affect the pitch.

It is not clear when Florsheim will take over the role but he has also been appointed as an executive director Homeserve Plc. He will be responsible for building the business in the UK.

Florsheim has been at BSkyB since 1994 and was previously marketing director of Dixons Stores Group.
