BT brand experience chief set to join marketing consultancy

BT head of brand experience Jan Gooding is leaving the company after three years to join brand and marketing consultancy Antennae.

Gooding, who was previously head of strategic communications in the group marketing and brand team, leaves BT at the end of this month. She will join Antennae as a managing partner in September.

Gooding joined BT in 2003 to deliver the strategic communications for the retail leadership team. She went on to work on the strategic direction of the BT brand, and most recently she has been part of the 21C customer experience leadership team.

“BT is a very challenging organisation and the brand has been going through the most enormous transformation,” said Gooding, who used to run her own marketing consultancy called Blue Door. “I wanted to get back to a smaller organisation which I can help run and build.”

Gooding has not yet been replaced, but her departure is the latest in a long line of changes in BT’s marketing department.

She worked closely with head of marketing communications Rebecca Morgan, who is leaving to join Lowe.

It emerged last week that the company is shifting group marketing and brand director Tim Evans into a new role, and giving John Petter, chief operating officer of BT Retail, more control over the marketing department (MW last week).

An announcement is due in the next week about the new structure.
