BT names David James as marketing chief

BT has confirmed David James in the role of marketing director, consumer.

He has acted in the role since Matthew Dearden left the telecoms company last month.

James is currently director of customer insight and intelligence and BT plans to axe that title. He will lead both teams in his new role and the appointment is effective immediately.

John Petter, managing director, consumer, BT Retail says:”David has amply demonstrated the gravitas, drive and thought leadership the role requires. I am personally thrilled for David, not least because his rapid rise reinforces our strategy to develop talent in the business and to promote from within wherever possible.”

BT has just rolled out the latest advertising campaign in its Adam and Jane storyline. The latest development in the saga of the couple was decided by a public vote.

Dearden left to join Clear Channel Outdoor as CEO. He outlined the challenges facing BT in a final interview carried by Marketing Week that you can find here
