The fashion company says revenue increased to £707m in the six months to 31 March, up from £663m in the same period last year.

Angela Ahrendts, chief executive officer of Burberry, says the firm will increase its investment in digital commerce, while “taking further action to enhance the brand” to drive growth.

Ahrendts says it remains “confident” that its business strategies will “continue to build momentum in the business” despite the “unclear” global economic situation.

Retail sales, which counted for over 60% of total revenue in the period, increased by 15% to £437m. Excluding new shop space, sales were up 10%.

Wholesale revenue declined by 6% to £217m.

The 154-year old clothes maker is using Harry Potter actress Emma Watson and her younger brother Alex to push its spring/summer collection.
