Burger King appoints top European marketer

Burger King has promoted John Schaufelberger to its top European marketer role.

He takes on the president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, leaving his previous role as president of global product and innovation open.

Schaufelberger will be part of the Burger King EMEA leadership team tasked with “strengthening the position of the brand” in the region and integrating the global brand promise into all marketing activity.

He will work closely with the marketing directors across the region and is responsible for product marketing, product development, commercialisation and research teams.

The appointment follows the departure of former European marketing director David Kisilevsky, who left Burger King in July 2010 to join ad agency McCann Erickson, but is not a direct replacement.

Schaufelberger joined Burger King US in 2004 and is said to be “instrumental” in the chain’s turnaround.

Burger King UK marketing director Sarah Power left the chain in January without a job to go to.
