Burger King global marketer takes leave

Burger King’s chief global marketer, Russ Klein, has taken a personal leave of absence from the company.

He has been in his position as executive VP and president of global marketing strategy and innovation since June 2006.

Prior to that role he was chief marketing officer of Burger King Corporation from May 2003.

Klein has also previously been CMO of 7-Eleven, where he was responsible for marketing across 5,800 stores in North America.

The details of his leave are not known at this stage. His role will be temporarily filled by senior VP of business intelligence Mike Kappitt.

Meanwhile, in the UK Burger King recently launched a TV campaign to promote its latest limited edition burger the Angry Whopper and Angry Chicken Royale.

The TV ad, created by Crispin Porter & Bogusky, features an anger management meeting where a cruel counsellor teases her attendees about their temper problems.

Burger King was not available for comment at the time this story was published.
