Cadbury feels bite of third recall

Cadbury has recalled thousands of chocolate bars after failing to print an appropriate nut allergy warning on the label. The confectionery giant issued an apology after recalling bars of its 250g Diary Milk Double Choc chocolate.

A spokesman says: “Cadbury wants all consumers to be able to enjoy our products and would therefore like to apologise to any consumers inconvenienced.”

The affected bars are sold in promotional packs bearing the strapline “win a prize and a half,” and can be returned for a full refund. The company says the product is safe for those not allergic to nuts.

This is the second recall Cadbury has had to instigate in recent times. In July The confectioner was fined £1m earlier this year after a salmonella outbreak was found to have affected certain products.

Cadbury recently dropped its £10m sponsorship of ITV’s Coronation Street as part of a marketing strategy to concentrate on individual brands rather then the company as a whole.
