Cadbury is launching a range of Spice Girls-branded chocolate products.

The deal follows last week’s announcement that Asda will be selling a wide range of Spice Girls’ merchandise in the run-up to Christmas.

Individual chocolate countlines featuring each group member will go on sale from the end of next month.

Also available will be a Christmas selection box containing existing Cadbury products alongside the new ones, and an assortment box containing each group member’s favourite chocolates.

The range will be promoted through point-of-sale material. No other advertising is planned.

Robert Dodds, managing director of Music Innovations, the company behind all of the Spice Girls merchandising deals, also confirms that doll versions of the group members will be available from early next year.

The Spice Girls are now the most merchandised group in music history, having signed deals with Pepsi, Walkers, Asda, Polaroid, Elida Fabergé and Chupa Chups since they shot to fame in the summer of 1996.

The presenting sponsor of the group’s 1998 global “Spice World” tour will be announced later this month. Neither of PepsiCo’s brands, Pepsi Cola and Walkers, will fulfil the role.
