Camelot launches scratch card to support 2012

Camelot is launching new a National Lottery Scratchcard to raise funds for the London 2012 Olympics. A series of cards featuring Britain’s six most popular Olympic champions will go on sale in July.

The sporting legends were picked after Ipsos Mori reseach found they were the national favourites. The six, who have 12 gold medals between them are – 1500m runner Sebastian Coe, triple jumper Jonathan Edwards, swimmer Duncan Goodhew, hurdler Sally Gunnell, runner Dame Kelly Holmes and rowing star Sir Steven Redgrave.

The game aims to drive awareness of 2012 in the build up to Beijing 2008. There will be a different Olympic Champions Scratchcard for each of the sports stars, who are pictured either in action or celebrating a winning performance. The cards cost £2 each and offer the chance to win a range of instant cash prizes from £2 to £60,000.

National Lottery funding will contribute almost £2.2bn to the public funding package for the London 2012 Olympics, of which £750m will come from specially designated lottery games such as the draw-based game, Dream number, some scratchcards including Olympic Champions and interactive instant win games online.

The launch of the Olympic Champions will be supported by an in-store media push, utilising new installed National Lottery media screens.
