Campaign warns against tombstoning

Folio Creative Communication has produced a campaign on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to highlight the dangers of ‘tombstoning’.

Tombstoning is the practice of jumping from cliffs and structures into often dangerous waters and has seen deaths and injuries amongst young people in recent years.

The campaign will see posters and stickers placed at danger spots like piers, harbours and cliffs. It targets young males and uses an innovative 2D barcode which can connect mobile phones directly to a dedicated website.

Folio account director Ian Wilson says: “The image that tombstoning has and the nature of the target market demanded a direct and almost brutal approach to getting the message across. We’re delighted that the MCA had the confidence to go with such an impactful campaign.”
