Carbon Trust names new group head of marketing

The Carbon Trust has appointed Simeen Kardi as interim group head of marketing. Kardi joins from the Forensic Science Service, a Government-funded body, where she was a marketing director.

Kardi will develop and implement overall marketing programmes across the Carbon Trust at group level. Her role is on an interim basis at present but will be reviewed in March 2009 and may become permanent.

She will work across the group and report to director of marketing and communications Peter Hambly. Sean Bell, head of marketing for the Carbon Trust brand, will also report to Hambly.

Kardi has been drafted in to develop strategy for the expanded Carbon Trust, which has launched two new businesses in the past 12 months. It now has a carbon reduction label, which indicates a commitment from manufacturers to reduce the carbon footprint of their products, and the Carbon Trust Standard, which certifies that an organisation has reduced its footprint.

The Carbon Trust says both the new businesses will require “significant” marketing activity to support their growth.

Kardi began her career in advertising agencies including BBDO and Saatchi & Saatchi. She has also held client-side marketing roles at companies such as UPS and later worked as a marketing consultant for software and technology companies.
