The Carbon Trust is reviewing its £6m media buying account. The business is currently split between Universal McCann and Carat.

The trust is understood to be considering consolidating the business into one agency as part of the statutory process. The winning agency will handle the business for two years starting from 2009.

It has invited Universal McCann, which handles broadcast and press buying, and Carat, incumbent on outdoor and online, and has also asked its other roster agencies, Brilliant Media and Manning Gottlieb OMD.

The media planning business, which Manning Gottlieb OMD won earlier this year, is unaffected by this review.

The process will be led by group head of marketing Simeen Kadi, who was appointed by the Government-funded body in November on an interim basis (MW November 20).

In March, the Carbon Trust appointed WCRS to its £12m advertising business for the next three years, after a three-way pitch against other roster agencies Vallance Carruthers Coleman Priest (VCCP) and Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R (MW.co.uk 10 March).
