CBS Outdoor names Alonso as international CEO

Out-of-home specialist CBS Outdoor has named Antonio Alonso as its new international chief executive officer.

Alonso will replace current chief executive Clive Punter immediately and report to Leslie Moonves, CBS president and chief executive officer. Punter is to leave the company.

Alonso will be tasked with overseeing the company’s international portfolio including the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and mainland China.

Prior to this, Alonso held the position of chief development officer at CBS, responsible for the development of international markets, where he managed the acquisition of leading South American out-of-home agency International Outdoor Advertising Group, in 2008.

He has also served as managing director of CBS Spain.

Before joining CBS Outdoor, Alonso served as Managing Director for Nefitel – Telefonica; Sales & Marketing Director for Information Resources, (IRI Spain) and Sales Director, Consumer Channels for Motorola Spain.

All of the leading outdoor companies have reported a slump in revenues this year with CBS Outdoor registering a 27% drop for quarter two, JCDecaux an 11.9% drop for the first quarter and Clear Channel 25% for the first quarter.
