Centaur Media picks Geoff Wilmot as chief executive

Geoff Wilmot has been appointed chief executive of Centaur Media, the publicly quoted specialist business publishing and information company that owns Marketing Week.

Wilmot has been chief financial officer of Centaur since 1998. He takes over the chief executive role from Graham Sherren on November 1. Sherren has been chief executive since Centaur was founded in 1982, and later combined this role with that of chairman. He will continue as chairman.

The announcement comes as Centaur issues a pre-close trading update for the year ending June 30. The company says it expects to deliver a strong performance during its second half, with results at the top of City analysts’ expectations.

In the year to June 30, total advertising revenues are expected to increase by more than 10% compared with the previous year.

The principal sources of this growth have been in magazine display advertising and internet recruitment advertising.

Before joining Centaur, Wilmot was chief executive of the Thomson Corporation Legal & Professional (Europe & Asia Pacific).
