Channel 4 has appointed Katie Jackson as the broadcaster’s interim CMO following predecessor Zaid Al-Qassab’s departure from the business.

Jackson took over the role on 4 March, leaving her post as 4Creative’s managing director – a role she held since July 2022. As interim CMO, Jackson will report to CEO Alex Mahon.

Channel 4 is still looking for a permanent CMO to replace Al-Qassab, who was announced as M&C Saatchi’s incoming CEO last month.

4Creative’s executive creative director Lynsey Atkin has taken on leading the in-house agency, while director of production Miketta Lane will oversee operational and commercial matters.

Marketing Week forecasted an increase in demand for interim CMOs in 2024 at the end of last year. Some executive recruitment firms experienced higher levels of interim and non-permanent roles in 2023 than ever before, with little sign of stopping, while job-seeking marketers experienced frustration at the lack of permanent roles on offer.
