Cheetham Bell scoops Manchester Evening News business

The Manchester Evening News has appointed new media and creative agencies to its 1m account. Cheetham Bell is understood to be the new creative agency with The Media Business in Manchester handling media.

Cheetham Bell pitched against the incumbent full-service agency J Walter Thompson Manchester, Juice Advertising and Stowe Bowden Wilson.

SBW also worked for the MEN in the past on a project-by-project basis. It provided creative work to support the launch of the paper’s Monday Super Sport section and Friday listings’ section called Go.

The new agency is expected to raise the profile of the MEN with a branding campaign.

In June the newspaper signed a deal to sponsor the huge Nynex arena in Manchester, which is now known as the Manchester Evening News Arena.

Cheetham Bell’s clients include sports’ brand Umbro, soft drinks’ brand Vimto and retail chain Home Style Fads.
