CheethamBell JWT wins Chicago Town ad account

Schwan’s Consumer Brands has appointed Manchester-based CheethamBell JWT to handle the advertising for its Chicago Town pizza brand. It is not know if incumbent TBWA/Manchester was involved.

CheethamBell JWT Manchester will now handle the advertising for the portfolio of brands in the range, which includes Chicago Town Individual Dish Pizza range and the Chicago Town Takeaway Pizza range, as well as a range of snacks, ready meals and desserts. 

Jan McKee, marketing director at Schwan’s, says: “This is an incredibly exciting time for us, we have some ambitious plans to move the brand forward.”

The Chicago Town Individual Dish Pizza was bought by 4.7 million households for the year to May 17, according to Nielsen. Today it is the fastest growing pizza brand up 86% year on year for the 50 weeks to May 17, according to IRI Value Sales.

Schwan’s also owns pizza brands, such as Tony’s, Red Baron, and Freschetta, in the US. The company’s chairman is Alfred Schwan and its president is Dave Bunnell. The family of late founder Marvin Schwan owns the company.
