CIC to review creative and media briefs
Film distribution giant CIC Video is reviewing its UK creative advertising account amid speculation that its 2.5m media planning and buying could also be reviewed.
Focus Advertising, a subsidiary of Publicis, has held the creative account since February last year. CIC Video marketing director, Martin Ogden, confirmed that a long list of agencies had been drawn up and Focus had been invited to repitch.
The media account is handled by Optimedia, and is currently undergoing an internal audit with the Billett Consultancy. It is tipped for review later this year.
CIC Video is jointly-owned by Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures. It is responsible for distribution and sales of films such as Forrest Gump and Jurassic Park, with the bulk of its media spend going on TV advertising.
Ogden says: “I expect as much creative input from the media planning and buying as from the pure creative agency.”
He says a shortlist of agencies for the creative work will be drawn up by the end of November.
