Cinemagoing continues to rise

Cinema admissions are continuing to climb with a year-on-year increase of 41% for April on the previous year, according to latest Cinema Advertising Association figures (CAA).

Monsters vs Aliens

Cinema admissions for 2009 to April 30 stand at 55.2 million, a 14.2% increase on the same periods in 2008. The first quarter saw admissions rise 7.5% compared to the same period in 2008 with interest partially driven by the arrival of the new format of 3D films.

April’s admissions were driven by the films such as the animated feature Monsters vs Aliens and the action film The Fast and Furious 4.

CAA is a joint initiative between cinema sales houses Pearl & Dean and Digital Cinema Media.

Pearl & Dean has just launched a cross-media commercial venture with partners Viacom Brand Solutions and MySpace. The venture is called Screen and will offer clients a package for cross-platform advertising.
