Citibank appoints sales and marketing director for UK

Citibank has promoted Jonathan Mindell to sales and marketing director for the company’s UK consumer business.

Mindell replaces Martin Johnson, who quit as marketing director last month to join Halifax Card Services as its first director of marketing (MW March 29).

Mindell was formerly sales and distribution director, a position he held since last January when he joined from Airtours. Citibank says it has merged the sales and marketing roles in order to create a “coherent strategy” for the business.

Mindell will report to managing director of UK consumer business George Vlachakis.

One of Mindell’s main tasks will be to develop the wealth management side of the business, which includes a fund supermarket offering ISAs and share dealing.

He says: “The fact is that sales and marketing are tied together. I will be ensuring that it all comes together at a customer level. Citibank is a multi-channel bank and it needs to have consistency of service.”

The bank has four branches in London but also offers telephone and Internet banking.

Customers opening a current account with Citibank need to have a yearly income of £20,000 or open the account with at least £2,000. The bank’s wealth management accounts start with a minimum investment of £60,000 but can go up to £500,000.
