Citigroup poaches Pru chief Wright to run Egg marketing

Prudential chief marketing officer Alison Wright is leaving to join rival Citigroup, which is buying the insurance giant’s online arm, Egg.

Wright will become Egg marketing officer for Citigroup after it completes

the £575m acquisition, expected later this month. She is being replaced by Angus McIver, Prudential’s director of insurance.

The move will add to the doubts surrounding Prudential’s consolidation review of its £20m advertising account, which was halted earlier this month.

Wright joined the Prudential Group from advertising agency WCRS as

chief marketing officer for Egg in January 2006.

She was promoted to head Prudential’s UK marketing four months later,

following the departure of Prudential UK and Europe marketing director Roger Ramsden as part of a management reshuffle.

McIver, a former brand and insight director, has been given the title UK marketing director. He joined in February 2003 from PepsiCo-owned Walkers Snacks, where he was vice-president of customer insight.

A spokeswoman for Prudential says agencies involved in the consolidation review will be “updated” next month.

The review was being conducted by Wright, who last year pooled media planning and buying into MediaCom.
