City AM sets timetable for expansion

City AM, the business freesheet, has set a timetable for its expansion plans. Currently only available in London, the publisher is planning to launch into Manchester and Edinburgh next spring.

City AM founder and managing director Lawson Muncaster has long mooted an expansion of the title into other cities. This is the first time he has revealed more specific timings of the publisher’s plans.

“I’ve been talking about regional expansion for a while now. Next year will be Edinburgh and Manchester. We’re estimating a combined [distribution] of between 12,500 to 17,500 in totality between the two cities. I can’t see the product growing too much more than that,” Muncaster says.

He says it will then be eyeing the prospect of growth into Leeds, Bath, Bristol and Glasgow.

He adds however, any plans for overseas expansion is still “too premature”.

In the six months to March this year the publisher reported a pre-tax profit of £47,000 and a 45% rise in total revenues to £3.5m compared to the previous corresponding period.
