Coca-Cola celebrates 20th anniversary of ‘Holidays are coming’ campaign

To mark the 20th anniversary of the ‘Holidays are Coming’ ad, Coca-Cola is relaunching its Christmas truck tour, offering customers the chance to snap a selfie in front of the vehicle as it mixes social media with experiential.

Coca-Cola allowed the public to determine when the route would be released by encouraging its followers to share a tweet on the company’s Twitter page. After 500 retweets, the company released the full location list. The nationwide tour will kick off on 20 November, stopping at 46 locations throughout the UK.

The brand’s Christmas truck tour will give fans the opportunity to get up close with the vehicle, experience a snowy winter wonderland setting as well as be offered a choice of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero or Coke Life to drink.

Coca-Cola is also running a special on-pack promotion to offer one customer a personal visit from the Christmas truck and a hamper of treats worth £5,000. Plus, there will be a limited edition 1.75 litre Christmas ‘bow bottle’ – with a label that can transform into a Christmas bow – which will be available in all major supermarkets.

Now in its second year, the brand is airing its ‘Give a Little Happiness’ TV ad and encourage people to spread festive cheer.

Bobby Brittain, marketing director for Coca-Cola Great Britain says: “We’re delighted to be marking 20 years of ‘Holidays are Coming’ on UK screens and take the Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour to as many towns as possible in the run up to Christmas.

“By launching a competition for a member of the public to win a personal visit from the Coca-Cola Christmas truck and making a further 46 stops across the UK, we’re looking forward to being able to give a little happiness to as many people across the country as possible.”

In 2014, the Coca-Cola’s Truck Tour website received nearly two million page views, while 50,000 official customer photos were taken across the tour’s 46 stops.
