Coltas Group wins £40m Tiny creative business

Tiny Computers has handed Coltas, the Glasgow-based advertising agency, its UK creative account worth about &£40m.

Outgoing agency Golley Slater has held the creative account for six years. The win is one of the biggest for an agency based outside London.

A spokesman for Tiny says: “It was felt that we needed a fresh approach. The market’s changing and we need some ideas.”

Coltas Group chief executive Lawrence Craig says: “We have an in-depth understanding of the retail market, which is a quality that will be fundamental when working with Tiny.”

The win comes just weeks after Tiny appointed Coltas to handle the press campaign for the Takami digital entertainment system.

Takami – which means “excellent idea” in Japanese – is a compact home entertainment system, incorporating a television, hi-fi, CD player, DVD player, PC, gaming console, Internet link and MP3 player.

Coltas has developed brand-building campaigns for the Daily Record, the BBC and Radio Clyde.

As well as advertising, the Coltas Group also encompasses a contact centre and a digital software design and marketing company.

The company employs 180 people but the number is expected to increase to 240 by the end of the year.

Tiny has about 140 retail outlets across the country, with headquarters based in Surrey.
