Commercial radio revenues continue to rise

Commercial radio continues to show signs of recovery with a positive set of results for the third quarter of the year, according to industry body RadioCentre.

The results released today (November 15) show that total revenue has rise by 5.4% to £149m over the quarter. The sector shaw a 7.7% increase in national revenue for the quarter to £81.5m although local revenue fell back by 0.7% to £39m. Sales and promotions saw a 8% rise to £28m, which RadioCentre says is a record.

RadioCentre chief executive, Andrew Harrison (pictured), says 2007 has been a “turning point” for the commercial radio industry. He adds: “Not only have we seen a record number of people tuning in but advertisers are really recognising the power of radio advertising.”
