Compassion of the firms that care

The gall of some people. Employers are not content with making their staff work harder for less pay and worse conditions. They are now turning round and telling them that all those long hours of slog mean they must be neglecting their families and that can’t be good for parenting!

Marketing companies such as Unilever are funding a charity called Parents at Work which seeks to curb excessive working hours that “impair family and personal relationships.”

PAW is getting support from PPP Healthcare for its latest stunt, national Go Home On Time Day, scheduled for June 21. As the event falls on a Friday, it is probably aimed at stopping the slothful fat cat bosses of industry taking the afternoon off to play a few rounds of golf.
