Condé Nast has appointed Catherine Ostler as the new editor of Tatler magazine.

She takes the reins from Geordie Grieg, who has been recruited by the new owner of the Evening Standard, Alexander Lebedev, to lead the newspaper’s editorial team.

Tatler is currently celebrating its 300th anniversary and Ostler will take up her new role in March.

Ostler began her career at Tatler where she rose to features editor and in 1994 she joined the Mail on Sunday.

Subsequent roles have included editor of The Times Weekend section and experience in digital, including launching peoplenews.com, an early news and gossip website.

Ostler returned to Associated Newspapers to work on the Daily Mail and in October 2002 joined the Evening Standard to relaunch ES magazine and she has edited the publication for the last six years. Last year she launched esmagazine.co.uk.

Nicholas Coleridge, Managing Director of Condé Nast, says: “I am delighted that Catherine is joining us. She is an editor of considerable experience and perfect for TATLER.”
