Condé Nast to open fashion college

Magazine publisher Condé Nast is to open a fee-paying fashion and design college to grow long-term revenue.

The Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design will offer up to 300 students a year-long fashion foundation course sponsored by its Vogue brand and 10-week intensive fashion qualifications from September 2012.

House & Garden backed interior design and decoration courses and several MA level courses are also planned.

Curriculums will include the history of the disciplines, print and digital journalism, luxury brand marketing and other related business skills.

Editor of Easy Living magazine and former deputy editor of Vogue Susie Forbes will become principal of the college. A board of education and financial advisors will support the college.

Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Condé Nast says: “Condé Nast is perfectly placed to enter the world of education. The reputation and authority of our brands puts us in a strong position to teach and inspire the fashion and decorating talent of the future.”

A central London location for the college will be confirmed in the coming weeks. Courses will begin next year.

Fees for courses will be “in line” with those charged by other institutions, the publisher says.
