Corgi International appoints new managing director

Corgi International has appointed Denis Horton as group managing director for Europe. He replaces Dave Turner who left the company to pursue other interests earlier this month.

Horton, who joins from electronic games company Radica, will be responsible for the toy company’s operations in the UK and Europe and will report to chief executive Michael Cookson.

Horton was previously international president at Radica, which has recently been taken over by Mattel, but has also held managing director roles at Tonka, Fisher-Price and Mattel.

At this beginning of this year, Corgi restructured its business to bring several divisions together under Corgi International. It includes Corgi Classic, Master Replica and Cards Inc and will now develop products under the Popco brand. Cards Inc will continue to distribute collector cards, movie prop replicas and high-end collectibles.

Corgi sales director Mark Summerfield has also left the company after taking voluntary redundancy. He has worked in the toy industry for 20 years.
