Cable & Wireless, parent company of the UK’s Cable & Wireless Communications, has appointed its first global marketing chief, who will lead a new marketing team
John Purvis, formerly responsible for C&W’s multinational clients as director of marketing and services for global markets, has been handed the new role of director of group marketing for C&W.
Purvis will oversee corporate marketing across all C&W’s worldwide businesses, which include mobile, marine (undersea cable laying), card services and networks.
The new corporate marketing team is expected to have eight members. The first three or four marketers will be recruited early next year. Purvis is based in the UK and reports directly to C&W executive director Don Reed.
A C&W spokeswoman says: “Purvis will provide a central resource to co-ordinate and support marketing across the plc.”
