Danone appoints Jacobs Bakery marketing boss in restructure

Jacobs Bakery has appointed Barbara Reid as marketing director. The move comes as parent company Danone prepares to incorporate it into a UK, Irish and New Zealand division.

Reid will report to Lorna Davis, who starts a newly-created role as director of the new division.

Davis takes over the responsibilities of Jacobs managing director David Freedman. He is retiring after more than 25 years at the company.

Davis was previously managing director of Danone’s New Zealand food business Griffin Foods. Griffin will now join with Jacobs and Irish Biscuits to form one trading division.

Reid takes over from Paul Cousins, who left to become a director of marketing consultancy Catalyst. She will be responsible for Crackers, Club biscuits and Twiglets.

Cousins, a former marketing director at Homepride, starts his new job on January 31 and will be responsible for setting up Catalyst’s northern office in Chester.

Jacobs is sponsoring the current series of Carlton’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, its fourth successive deal with the quiz show (MW November 18 1999).
