De Nardis named ceo of OMD Worldwide

OMD Worldwide has appointed former Aegis Media chief Mainardo de Nardis as chief executive. He will start in his new role next year and be based in New York.

He will replace Joe Uva who left OMD Worldwide early last year. Uva left to take up a position at Spanish-language media company Univision Communications.

De Nardis stepped down from his Aegis position in May and has since been replaced by Jerry Buhlmann. De Nardis is also a former global chief executive of Mediaedge:cia.

He will report to Daryl Simm, chairman and chief executive of Omnicom Media Group.

Omnicom Media Group chairman and chief executive Daryl Simm says: “Mainardo is a true global media leader who brings a rare combination of international media expertise, client service understanding and operating skill. He has the right skill set to build on OMD’s position as the world’s leading media service company.”

OMD recently beat Carat to take the £650m pan-European media planning and buying business of Renault.
