Dell builds bespoke customer insight

Dell has undertaken a major upgrade to its business intelligence infrastructure to ensure its business is powered by customer insight. The company is now using a centralised, enterprise data warehouse platform from Teradata as the foundation for its analytics. The upgrade extends a deployment that first began in 2001.

“Business intelligence is vital to Dell and is a critical piece of helping us better anticipate and meet the desires of our customers, driving efficiencies, and gaining critical insights,” said James Franklin, vice president of enterprise business intelligence at Dell.

“Teradata provides an important enabling technology that helps us understand what has happened, but more importantly what is likely to happen as we forecast future business patterns for our customers and business processes,” he added.Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse is a purpose-built platform that Dell has been able to scale as its requirements have grown.

“We greatly value our relationship with Dell and look forward to helping optimise their environment to meet unique business needs,” said Randy Lea, vice president of products and services, Teradata Corporation. “Dell’s market is dynamic and enterprise analytics enables the business agility needed to spot and take advantage of opportunities in the market and create new operating efficiency.”
