DFGW scoops BBC World Cup trailers

DFGW is understood to have been handed a brief to devise trailers for the BBC’s coverage of the World Cup next year. The agency won the task without a pitch.

The creative work will promote the BBC’s coverage of next year’s World Cup tournament in Germany and will also run around World Cup-related programmes.

DFGW, which is on the BBC roster alongside Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO and Fallon, has created several campaigns for BBC Sport. Its creative work for this year’s Wimbledon is on air at the moment, and features two female tennis players battleing it out until one of them shatters into pieces.

The agency has created campaigns for the BBC’s coverage of this year’s Six Nations rugby tournament, the Athens Olympics and Euro 2004 football championship. DFGW also created the campaign for the Commonwealth Games coverage in 2002. The agency has worked on promoting the BBC’s digital services.

DFGW, along with Passion Films, created the caricature clips for for the BBC’s election coverage.

BBC marketing director Tim Davie, the man credited with painting Pepsi blue, is reported to have given his full support to the DFGW appointment. However, Davie, who joined the BBC in March (MW March 3), is expected to call a review some time later this year.
