Diary spices up an evening out with a dash of social opportunism

Jealous readers could be forgiven for thinking the over-privileged Diary receives invites to hobnob with the stars on a regular basis. But they would be wrong.

Invites are not always forthcoming – so a little ingenuity and fast-talking is required from time to time.

At the trendy West End nightclub Sugar Reef, the Diary stumbled across Mel C in the ladies loos, fresh from taking the stage with the rest of the Spice Girls at the Brit awards.

Working overtime, the Diary blagged an invite to join Sporty and her fellow Spices, Scary and Baby, at a private celebrity-packed party in the same club.

The Spice Girls were celebrating, having picked up a lifetime achievement award at the Brits. Fans of Posh would have been disappointed, as the skinny star was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps she had better things to do, such as change baby Brooklyn’s nappies at home.
