BT has pulled out as sponsor of the ‘Internet Villain’ category at the forthcoming Internet Service Providers’ Association Awards. BT spokesman Simon Gordon says: ‘We were approached to do this and originally believed it to be a fun and light-hearted part of the awards. But when we saw the shortlist, it seemed a bit too personal, and we weren’t so happy. The shortlist includes Oftel director general David Edmonds, Home Secretary Jack Straw, and – now that his company is no longer the sponsor – BT chief executive Sir Peter Bonfield.
