He has been tasked with maximising commercial opportunities including the development and implementation of advertising revenue strategies for spots, sponsorships and brand partnerships.
Shaw also will work on new business opportunities including the development of branded content, and manage advertising representative/agent relationships.
He has been working with Discovery on a consultancy basis over the last year and has implemented a series of strategic initiatives across EMEA including a new ad sales system, an internal ad sales training academy and new ad sales opportunities across EMEA.
Prior to this he spent two years as head of commercial strategy at 19 Entertainment, working with Simon Fuller, the creator of Pop Idol/American Idol, The Spice Girls and brand Beckham.
Previously Shaw was EVP and regional director of Universal McCann across EMEA with a network of 67 offices. He spent 11 years at the agency and in total over 20 years working in the advertising industry on media planning and buying roles for a number of global agency groups.
