AdhereTech

AdhereTech makes smart pill bottles that alert patients when they have to take their medication and keeps track of their usage and dosage.

People forgetting to take their medication is one of the most widespread issues in healthcare, costing billions in follow-up care and intervention. CIO Review reported that AdhereTech bottles increased adherence by more than 20% and duration by over 25%.

The smart pill bottle was created by product design and technology experts from companies such as General Electric (GE), Bayer and Motorola. The company is supported by a board of advisors that includes executives from pharma companies, pharmacies and medical device firms.

Having raised $2.4m (£1.85m) to date, it is also a member of GE’s StartItUp Health programme and clients include Mount Sinai Hospital and The Dara Farber Cancer Institute, as well as two top 20 US pharmacy brands.
