Chargifi

Today’s consumer is heavily reliant on mobile devices, creating a growing need to charge devices on-the-go and fuelling increasing demand for wireless charging in public places.

Dan Bladen spotted this opportunity and, in 2013, left his post as director of technology at St Paul’s Church, Hammersmith and formed Chargifi, which provides retail businesses with the capability to offer a wireless charging service.

The technology also gives venues a platform to gather customer data and market-targeted messages in real time, thanks to its hyper-accurate location ability, matched with demographic data.

Chargifi provides the hardware as well as supporting venues with the management of their wireless charging points and related analytics and marketing opportunities.

To date the company has raised $3.4m (£2.3m) from investors including Intel Capital, Techstars and R/GA Ventures, and ZipCar founder Brett Akker is a director. The service is currently being deployed in Asia, Europe and North America.
